real talk

if you are new here - welcome!
my name is Destanne and I am the owner/designer of this small company.
.
the last year has been a wild health journey which has shifted some gears as to how we manage our day to day procedures. the biggest and most profound shift has been a 4 day work week. this decision has stabilized my recovery and allowed more flexibility within the team to strike a healthier work/life balance for everyone.
we have a sweet team that feels extra special lately 🩵
.
the main reason for this post is to catch up on communications with all of you. I have been a little quiet lately as I recalibrate my life back at work.
because the last year was so overwhelming, I was unable to manage the business as well as a healthy person and some elements had to be left until I was able to tend to it.
I was finally able to sit down recently and review our numbers.
as many of you know the cost of goods have gone up. upon review I noticed some discrepancies between cost of production and our pricing.
most things looked alright but some items were very askew.
since 2019 the heavyweight linen has nearly doubled in price (!) which has not been reflected in our pricing.
we had to raise our prices for some of our larger items in HWL to reflect an honest cost.
if we did not raise our prices we would literally be giving our clothes away which is unsustainable.
if you see a price jump and are startled we completely understand.
we too were startled when we realized how little we were making on particular items.
please trust that it is never a good feeling to raise prices except in knowing we might be giving ourselves the chance to make it another year.
.
classically, as a small business we opt for the lowest price point we can afford - it’s rogue and somewhat reckless and why we don’t have sales very often. there is little wiggle room.
.
why am I sharing this with you?
transparency. honesty. respect.
and appreciation for you ✨
sharing our process feels important.
.
sustainable clothing also includes the sustainability of the company itself.
.
thank you for being here
