the edge of moments

dapple of sun and cloud
eastern winds that bring showers + rainbows
new birdsong + inch worms

windows of light refraction
inside + through
peering out into
nootka rose path to strata beach

artifacts, inquiry, space + nest
gossamer glances
ephemeral exchange

the edge of moments.

may 2024

this photoshoot was particularly special for me.
the home belongs to very special folks in my world - a haven that I return to with a delight that feels like home.
the view is some of the best medicine one could ever hope for and the conversations that unfold vibrating with wonder.

there were 4 of us women at the shoot - Joslyn (photographer), Susan (model), Annette (homeowner) + myself.

all 3 of these women are important figures in my life - all who have held space for the journey I am just emerging from - and with whom I can share some of the the most thoughtful conversations.
each of these amazing women bring a wisdom + perspective that nourishes the prism of my personality that comes together as a whole.

naturally, we all got along famously.

we all respectfully held space for the process.
the process is, above all, the most important part for me.
I truly enjoy the unknown and welcome all that comes.

a photo session is rather intense as there are many important aspects to be sensitive too and make space for.
so many moving parts.

there is a profound need for diligent focus and feeling.
the process is creative + explorative - undulating through ideas and navigating light + shadow.

I am always on the edge of breathlessness.

there is a state of being shared between us all.
as Annette observed, “a trifecta of artists creating together”.

there is so much that is unspoken between Joslyn and myself that is then translated to Susan as we compose as one lens.
after years of working together a language has evolved between us - a knowing before it’s known.
this is something I cherish - the journey.

Susan was a dream to work with - fearless, thoughtful, patient + always with an edge of wildness. perfection.

together we navigated the macro + the micro.

the home + surrounding landscape offered so much dynamic inspiration for us all as well as a welcoming and loving space for us to unfurl confidently.

keep an eye for more images as we continue to share.

thank you for being here,

Destanne
